Ifeoma Favour Okoro
Welcome to Posure Leadership Institute. The success of our students is our success. Creating the opportunity that foster student success in university has never been more important than ever. According to McCabe (2000), up to 80% of high school graduates require some form of postsecondary education to equip them with the necessary skills for economic self-sufficiency and to navigate the ever-evolving social, political, and cultural challenges of the innovative modern society. When students come to withdraw from classes in the middle of the semester. I always asked them, do you know how much 3 credits cost? The answer is always NO. When I explained to them how much it cost immediately, they changed their mind to push through the semester. Dr. Young Zhao said” to succeed in this ever-changing world, students need to be able to think like entrepreneurs: resourceful, flexible, creative, and global.” We focus on empowering student to pursue, overcome, succeed, recover and gain confidence to develop an investment mind-set, the belief and the willingness to shape their own futures and their community. We are creating an inclusive environment where our students will succeed in pursuing their dreams with determination, overcome challenges with resilience, succeed through hard work and dedication, and recover from setbacks with unwavering perseverance. We stand by our students, providing the support they need to succeed toward their triumphant return and we will do it by a deep understanding of our student’s needs, their way of conducting the academic activities and their way of communication. We develop a path of empowerment where education motivates transformation, and every student’s journey is celebrated as they pursue, overcome, succeed, and recover. Within every challenge lies an opportunity to pursue greatness, overcome obstacles, succeed against all odds, and recover from setbacks as we help these students. We are steadfast in our commitment to empowering each student to rise above their challenges and seize the limitless potential that lies within them. At Posure Leadership Institute, we believe in promoting a campus community where every student’s unique challenges are identified and addressed with empathy and understanding. Our students will have the opportunity to gain insights into the globalized world, expanding their knowledge, talents, and resources to support and contribute to areas in need across the globe. Our student-centered practice guides us in making decisions that position our student’s aspirations and needs at the forefront. Embracing innovation and flexibility, we aspire to create learning experiences catering to students’ diverse learning styles and abilities. Collaboration is at the heart of our efforts as we work with faculty, staff, students, and the community to build a strong support network for success.
Our programs for academically suspended students will concentrate on academic recovery and skill development to direct them toward accomplishing their goals. Leadership skills are important for student’s personal and professional development. We are excited to offer leadership development programs to empower students to build confidence, communication skills, and effective leadership abilities; skill-building workshops will complement the student’s academic journey, enabling them to enhance their performance, time management, and study habits. Our Faculty and staff will be trained in inclusive teaching practices to ensure students have an accessible and welcoming learning experience. Our dedicated team will work to implement and continuously reevaluate students’ individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring that their academic and personal goals are supported. We understand that accountability and transparency are essential. Hence, we have defined metrics critical to assess our progress in achieving our goals. With determination and support, our students will overcome challenges, succeed academically, and recover from setbacks, building a bright future. We eagerly anticipate the positive transformations that await us on this journey.
